Privacy

Ferry works without an account, analytics, advertising, or location access. The timetable and countdowns are calculated in your browser from the published summer schedule.

When you share location

Location is optional and requested only after you choose Use my location and approve the browser prompt. Your position is kept in the open page, is not saved by Ferry, and is removed when you close or reload the page. The first walking and cycling estimates are approximate and calculated on your device.

When you refine routes

Detailed route estimates require a separate tap on Refine routes. That action sends your latitude and longitude, rounded to four decimal places (about 10 metres), to the public Valhalla OpenStreetMap.de routing service. The provider also receives ordinary request information such as your IP address. Coordinates are sent in the request body rather than the URL. Review that provider’s terms before using this optional feature.

Maps and external links

The map is not loaded until you open Map view. It uses Leaflet from unpkg and map tiles from OpenStreetMap; those providers receive ordinary request information, including your IP address. Links to City of Toronto or other sites are governed by those sites’ privacy practices.

Your control

• Decline location and continue using every timetable feature.
• Skip route refinement and use only the local approximate estimates.
• Revoke location permission in your browser settings at any time.
• Reload or close the page to clear its in-memory location.
